A huge increase in passenger traffic at Abu Dhabi International Airport was reported last year with the airport handling nearly 11 million travellers, a 12 per cent jump from 2009.
National Airline of the United Arab Emirates, Etihad Airways, accounts for the majority of traffic at Abu Dhabi International airport. The airline had a strong year last year when revenue grew by 29 per cent and passenger traffic rose 13 per cent to 7.1 million. During 2009, Etihad added eight new aircraft and began flying to seven new destinations to its growing list
In addition to the UAE capital, Dubai’s aviation industry is also expected to break records for last year although airlines such as Etihad offer flights to Dubai from London Heathrow that uarrive at the airline’s hub (Abu Dhabi Airport) which is conveniently located to serve both of these cities in the UEA
